Sophie Sweeps in Swim Competition

At camp last Wednesday, our little fish, Sophie, got 4 ribbons for swimming . First Place: Bubble Race, Noodle Race, Nothing Race (which is across the pool with no float support); Second Place: Kickboard Race. She was so excited and proud to show off the ribbons.

I caught this Striped Bass on Father's Day. So far, it has been the only day I could get out for one reason or another. I woke up to thunder at 3:30, and watched the wather to see if it was going to pass. It looked like only one more cell would be coming, so I went down to the beach. The last cell passed, but it continued to rain all day... I went out anyway and had a blast. I got a bunch of fish like this one on a sand eel pattern and a few on a red squid. This guy was not too big, but fun just the same. This one came up with a school right under the canoe.

Mid-May on cape cod - Last Sunday the sun came out for a while. We got a backyard visitor: A gray tree frog (Hyla versicolor) . It looked just like a rock.

I got invited on the Salt Box School whale watch last Thursday. Good thing it was Thursday because the weather has been nasty every other day. Thursday was gorgeous: cool temperatures, but no wind. There were big rolling swells and the whales were everywhere. They were busy feeding on sand lances (or sand eels).

Mother's Day

Lot's O' Mud

Its Friday night and raining again. 5 out of the last 6 Saturdays have been rainy. With the new construction, we have quite a mudpit going, but at least it's fun for the kids.

Gulls at the Herring Run
