At camp last Wednesday, our little fish, Sophie, got 4 ribbons for swimming . First Place: Bubble Race, Noodle Race, Nothing Race (which is across the pool with no float support); Second Place: Kickboard Race. She was so excited and proud to show off the ribbons.

I remember "race day" down at Front Beach ... I never won anything.
It was always freezing cold, usually very windy and wavy with seawead everywhere. I don't think I ever won anything at those races either. I know beth won a floating contest. She floated for half an hour in 50-degree water for the prize. Not only did she get a blue ribbon, but blue lips, knees and... well blood. It's a wonder we all survived childhood.
